The electoral process and forms of manipulation in the epoch of the digital transformation of the society: risks, threats and opposition

Abstract

The paper examines the processes associated with the digital transformation of political communication, their impact on the electoral process and forms of manipulation of publicopinion. The article argues that modern political communication, as well as the social system
as a whole, are affected by the process of introduction and development of digital technologies. The author proves that the introduction of innovative technologies in political communication radically changes the specifics, direction and nature of interactions in the electoral
process. Separately, the paper analyzes the forms of manipulation in the political process of modern societies, shows the role and significance of digital systems and technologies in the electoral process, and identifies possible ways to counteract "digital manipulation".
